As the Manager, Utility Plant and Mechanical Systems you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operational management and/or maintenance of designated central steam and/or hot water heating production/distribution Utility Plant(s) including Mechanical Systems for physical plant health site(s) for Vancouver General Hospital in a manner consistent with regulatory requirements and industry best practices ensuring a safe and reliable environment for the delivery of healthcare-related services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

• A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a British Columbia or Inter-Provincial First Class Certificate of competency as a Power Engineer, supplemented with five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent, related progressive supervisory and management experience in a large, complex unionized environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to apply sound management skills in selecting, developing and coaching staff.
• Ability to prepare, reports and recommendations to multidisciplinary audiences, and consult individuals internal to the organization.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Ability to use spreadsheet and word processing, applications.
• Adaptable and flexible to meet changing priorities and resource constraints.
• Knowledge and experience with the operation of air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical and control systems, and human resources management.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
