As an Allied Health COVID 19 Screening & Testing - Dental Hygienist with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Utilize clinical practice knowledge and expertise to promote and protect the optimal health, well-being and safety of patients and clients.

  • Perform screening activities in support of COVID-19 screening and test collection including nasopharyngeal swab testing.


Education & Experience

  • Graduation from an approved program in Dental Hygiene and one (1) year of recent related experience providing direct patient care or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Current full registration with the College Dental Hygienists of BC (CDHBC).

  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for business-related purposes as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to deal sensitively and tactfully with clients and provide culturally sensitive clinical services to diverse and marginalized populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct relevant screening activities and ability to observe and recognize changes in clients in accordance with the guidelines issued by the BC Centre for Disease Control
  • Ability to successfully complete relevant VCH competency training for nasopharyngeal swab testing
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with co-workers, other health care staff, clients and their families and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritise work.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, problem solve and facilitate resolutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others to make evidence informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new and unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system as well as applicable word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
